E&H attended the Workshop "Suggestions on regulations on expanded responsibilities of manufacturers and importers in the Draft Decree on Environmental Protection Law 2020"

On the morning of June 16, 2021, E&H attended the Webinar "Suggestions on regulations on expanded responsibilities of manufacturers and importers in the Draft Decree on Environmental Protection Law 2020" organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Mr. Dao Anh Tuan, Head of Legal Department - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) chaired the workshop. There were consultants, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and representatives of business associations and related businesses attending the workshop.

Currently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is developing a Draft Decree detailing a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, including content on the responsibilities of manufacturers and importers on recycling and disposal of products and packaging as waste. This regulation is expected to affect organizations that manufacture and import products and packages on the list of products and packages that must be recycled. The conference program includes:

  • Part 1: Draft Decree detailing the Law on Environmental Protection – Extended Responsibilities of Producers (EPR) - Mr. Phan Tuan Hung, Director of Legal Department - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment
  • Part 2: Overview of extended producer responsibilities (EPR) and Korean experience - Dr. Kim In Hwan – Legal Advisor of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Korea
  • Part 3: Presentations from businesses, associations, experts
  • Part 4. Conclusion

At the end of the workshop, Mr. Phan Tuan Hung affirmed that the comments made by the delegates during the workshop were extremely valuable, the Decree drafting unit will absorb and make appropriate corrections to ensure the legitimacy and feasibility of the regulation.
